A Few Updates

Not final!

Not final!

Just time for some Eibonvale Press updates here.  I am currently working on a re-release of Experiments at 3 Billion A.M. by Alexander Zelenyj – one of the earliest Eibonvale Books.  I guess I have learned a lot since those days so here is a chance to put together a volume that is worthy to sit alongside Songs for the Lost, easily one of the best projects I have been involved in with the press and, if I may voice a personal opinion, one of the two most beautiful Eibonvale books!  The book will have a newly designed cover and a more streamlined design has reduced the pagecount considerably, leading to a comfortable price reduction.  In addition, the author has revisited the entire text, editing and changing it.  However, the one thing that will remain the same is the 40 artworks included in there … yes, even THAT weird artwork of Grandmother Mars!

In addition, look out soon for the new edition of Allen Ashley’s first novel The Planet Suite, complete with lots of extras and new materials.  That will be the second project to arrive.

An absolute rave review of Alexander Zelenyj’s Songs for the Lost from Rising Shadow – this book definitely seems to be having an effect on those who read it.  Maybe you will be next?  🙂  Click through to http://www.eibonvalepress.co.uk to try this strong medicine for yourself!

“Every once in a while – if you’re lucky – you’ll come across a short story collection that is so unique and stunning that it’ll make you marvel at its contents. Alexander Zelenyj’s Songs for the Lost is such a collection. It’s an exceptionally good and original collection of speculative fiction stories that are marked by intelligent storytelling, supernatural elements and beautiful and eloquent literary prose.”

The first review in of Alexander Zelenyj’s Ballads to the Burning Twins is up.

Though it was technically a companion piece to Songs for the Lost, this is indeed Eibonvale’s first ever poetry collection available for general release, so a bit of a landmark!  Click here to have a read.

Yesterday (ok, Saturday to you – don’t ask about my sleeping patterns!) the extras for Alexander Zelenyj’s Songs for the Lost bundle deals finally arrived!  That is, the chapbook containing a few new stories, the signed bookplates and the special ‘tickets’, which the world will have to decipher for itself if it can.  Some copies have already been sent out and the rest will be going out over the next few days I hope.  The special bundle deals are now closed for this title, but keep an eye on our blog as we often offer these special deals to launch a book.

Please note that those of you who also ordered the new edition of Experiments at Three Billion A.M. will receive your copy later when the book is published.

Ok, announcement time everyone!  The paperback versions of Alexander Zelenyj’s Songs for the Lost and Ballads to the Burning Twins are now available to order through the eibonvale website.  So if you have been waiting for these then your wait is over!  And likewise, if you want to try your hand at some of the darkest emotional horror and sci-fi I have seen in a while, then give it a go.

In other Zelenyj-related news, the printers has been driving me absolutely spare with this one, messing things up over and over again, so for those of you still waiting for the preorders, my apologies but we are very close to sending them out now!

Ok folks! We are now good to go on the special lettered edition bundles of our latest title: Alexander Zelenyj’s massive new collection Songs For The Lost and its companion book Ballads To The Burning Twins with matching lettered bookplates, one of a range of very rare Deathray Bradburies ticket stubs that will serve very well as bookmarks, and best of all, Forgotten Hymns Of The Death Angels – a signed lettered ‘zine-style’ chapbook produced by the author containing four additional stories that will not be available for sale outside this offer.

Zelenyj is an author distinguished by the extraordinary levels of bleak honesty and human pain in his writing – an almost unique perspective on the human condition in my experience, coupled with roots deep into classic genre forms which are then transmuted into something entirely new – a classic facet of slipstream writing.  His works remain among the strongest, strangest and most emotional I have ever been privileged to publish.

The bundles will open for orders on:

WEDNESDAY  27/08/14 – 21:00 London Time.

at this link: http://www.eibonvalepress.co.uk/specials.html

At that time the order buttons will go live (refreash the page!).  In the meantime though you can find more info there so take a look.

They often sell fast so keep an eye out, especially if you want a chance at the coveted letter A!

The slightly late hour is to give buyers in Canada and the USA a chance. Alexander Zelenyj is a Canadian author after all!

And just to reiterate – the price of Songs is a little higher than usual due to printing costs because it is a HUGE book! 34 stories no less. Over twice the size of many of our publications. It is a book that will last you a long time and take you to many places. This is our first book in far too long – and I am starting to feel as though we are coming back with a bang!

New arrivals! Alexander Zelenyj’s Songs For The Lost and it’s companion ‘extra’ Ballads To The Burning Twins – actually a full hardcover poetry/lyrics/photography collection. Some ‘extra’! If all goes well, I will get the lettered preorders for these plus special extras open this weekend. Keep an eye out here or on the Eibonvale facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/eibonvale ) and newsletter – remember the first customer to order gets the coveted letter A!

Well – it’s been a while, hasn’t it.  Things have been very quiet round here lately – you might almost say I took a year off.  Partly I had my own writing project to work on (my novel Meat) and partly, lets be honest, I was just exhausted.  It takes it out of you, running a small press – trying to sell books, keep writers happy (herding cats anyone?) and keep up with the admin and paperwork.  But I am pleased to say that things are moving again here – and it is with a certain ship-launching, bottle-of-campaign excitement that I can reveal the first cover of 2014 – Alexander Zelenyj’s Songs for the Lost.  Zelenyj is an absolute master of emotional horror, melancholy, passion and the delicate art of drawing on classic pop-culture and genre forms to create something highly complex, challenging and really quite visionary.  This is a spectacular big book and a fitting way to ‘break my fast’ as it were.

Songs 10 Final

We will be running our usual online ordering fun and games for the first 26 copies – keep your eyes open for that.  I will also be rushing these through and hope to have some of them available at FantasyCon 2014.

Most exciting of all, there will also be a small second book by the same author released alongside and forming a companion piece.  Ballads To The Burning Twins will essentially be a poetry collection – or more accurately a set of imaginary ‘lyrics’ that is intimately connected to the main Songs For The Lost.  I hope to make it a slim hardcover, but no promises yet!

Full details will be released shortly, but buyers of the special bundles will get both books plus some other exclusive goodies.  So well worth getting ready to pounce!
